1000 Baxter Avenue Center

Joseph C. Dahlem developed 1000 Baxter Avenue Center, Louisville’s first suburban shopping center, in 1936. In 2000, Dahlem Enterprises, Inc. razed the original structures and redeveloped the shopping center. The property is located in a densely populated urban neighborhood near downtown Louisville. Walgreen’s, an original tenant, remains as its anchor along with Jimmy John’s, Great Clips and Highland Nails. The Shopping Center provides ample parking at five cars per thousand, which is unusually generous for retail and business along this corridor in Louisville.
